Attending the Carte Noire launch event at the Old School was a very interesting experience for me. The event combined two things I like; coffee and old but refurbished buildings. I'm a sucker for buildings with history.

Anyway, we were treated to short fashion show, exhibiting the works of a Paris-trained Cambodian designer, Romyda Keth. I'm not a fashionista or even a clothes horse but I have to say, I do like her designs. Simple, yet elegant. The male models were good looking too.

Right after the fashion show, we were given the first taste of the coffee. The aroma was wonderful but at first sip, I found it light and a little acidic. It was not something I was used too and even though it was not bitter, the 'sourness' of it turned me off.

I later found out that the coffee was actually from a filter coffee machine, which explained the lightness of it. The espresso that we had during learn-how-to-make-coffee-art session was more to my liking. Not bitter, and I can have it without sugar. Though I think it could be the milk that was covering the bitterness of the coffee.
The coffee art making demo was done by Danny. He made it look so easy but when I tried it, it was actually quite difficult for someone who failed art like me. It requires control and of course, a lot of practice.
It was fun to learn and to hear the way he explains about the art of coffee making, I can stand there and listen to him for hours.
I thought that the event was fun; new experiences, coffee and spending time with awesome people. Than you for the invite!
Hmmm... Now I feel like having coffee. *goes off to make coffee*
